Itinerary
Day 1: Zagora • Tamegroute • Mhamid • Erg Lihoudi
Depart Zagora. Visit the underground kasbah and pottery of Tamegroute. Lunch in Mhamid. Afternoon 4x4 to Erg Lihoudi dunes. Dinner and overnight in desert camp.
Day 2: Erg Lihoudi • Sacred Oasis • Erg Chigaga
Deep desert expedition. Cross the Hamada (stone desert) to the Sacred Oasis for a picnic. Arrive at the massive Erg Chigaga dunes for sunset camel trek. Luxury bivouac.
Day 3: Erg Chigaga Exploration
A full day to soak in the desert atmosphere. Morning walk in the dunes, visit a nomadic family for tea, search for fossils, or simply relax at the camp. Sandboarding included.
Day 4: Erg Chigaga • Lake Iriqui • Foum Zguid • Zagora
Cross the dried salt Lake Iriqui (famous Paris-Dakar track). Stop at Foum Zguid for lunch. Return to Zagora in the afternoon via the asphalt road.
